So I bought a Jag a few weeks ago. My first. The wife always wanted one and I have always liked them and the 2017 XFs have pretty good reviews and great specs. We wanted a nice car, but not a BMW or an Audi. Volvo was a contender for a little bit, but still has an ugly rear end, and Genesis was definitely in the running. But the Jag won. It is taking a little getting used to. I normally do just about all of my own repairs and maintenance, but this machine seems a little aloof. Fortunately, it came with the CPO warranty and the dealer threw on an extra year, plus a 5 year body and interior full warranty. So, I'm covered at least until 10/2024. I have never had a diesel before, so the DEF game is new to me. ...along with lots of Jaguar nuances.
I look forward to looking at this forum a lot in the future.
Thanks in advance.
- Question #1: The dealer insists that the DEF must be topped off using their SDD during my 4 yr (which happens to coincide with the 30,000 mile) checkup. Is that true? I know I can (and will) add DEF as needed, but is there something that must be reset by them?
- Question #2: Some features are enabled/disabled by the dealer, such as the headlight washers. Is there a way the owner can perform this?
- Is the Autozone brand DEF acceptable?
I look forward to looking at this forum a lot in the future.
Thanks in advance.

In Europe there's lot of cars have headlight washers but I am not aware if this is available in USA. Even Volvo,' MB, BMW, LR, & other European brands disable this feature. European cars also have rear red fog lights, also not available in USA.
