340 HP -> 380 HP Tune?

340 HP -> 380 HP Tune?
Everything I've read about the 'S' version of the 35t says the increase in horse power is due to a different tune. Based on that, I'm assuming the engine and components are the same. If that is the case, would it be possible to simply reconfigure my ECU to match the programming of the 'S' version?

Interesting... I wonder if it has slightly different programming? I can't see why they would have an entirely different transmission for just a 10% increase in HP. (especially since both engines have the same torque)

I've read that they have different trannies for 25t/diesels and 35t models. 340HP and 380HP is the same transmission with the same programming. For the tranny HPs don't matter much - just the torque. And torque for 340 and 380 engines is the same.
As for the warranty any change in programming will void it. You can downgrade the engine to 240HP and it will void the warranty.
Having said that the warranty will be void only if they tie the issue to the new tune. Unfortunately it is easy to connect the issue to the tune

Does anyone know if these ECUs have "tripwires" like Audi does? With Audi's ECU, if you modify it in any way, a flag gets set so the next time the service department plugs it in, they are alerted. (Even if you revert back to the stock tune before bringing it in)
95% of the time I drive like an old grandma (no offense to any grandmas here!!). In my first 300 miles I've been averaging 26-27 in the city. But the other 5% of the time, well, let's just say I got an AWD supercharged V6 for a reason!

I just did the VelocityAP tune on my F-Pace..340hp to 415hp and the increase is phenomenal...even in ECO mode, it drives tons better with awesome power in reserve.
Warranty issues will be hard to prove..Regardless, these engines are very robust and durable..Actually they are the original 5.0 V8 blocks..All you do is install back the original tune files before you go to the dealer...All that remains is a telltale code that the Program had been altered, but no way of proving as to what was done...Could have been the code reader that AUTOZONE used..

Also, I don't think a code reader from Autozone will alter the ECU program...
On another note, how do you do the VelocityAP tune? Do they send you everything you need to simply plug it in and install the new tune? Or do you need to take the vehicle into a shop?

Just a quick correction - I was looking at Jaguar's website, and the F-Type only has the V6 in 340 & 380 HP. So unless I missed something, the highest stock output from any Jaguar with the 3.0 V6 is 380 HP...

Rovers, maybe....but these engines are more than capable of 450hp as I've been told by JAG Tech.

Does anyone have any experience with this? With Audi, once the ECU tripwire has been tripped by a tune, the next time the car is plugged into a service computer, it red-flags the car in Audi's system (not just the dealer's) and they will fight any repair work under warranty from that time forward. From what I've read, previously some dealers had turned a blind eye and did the work any way, but corporate Audi has really been cracking down and won't reimburse those dealers for warranty work if any changes have been made to the ECU.

There was a different transmission part number for every motor if I remember correctly but that could be anything added or deleted. Programming probably done at the TCU by the car manufacturer.

I have the Velocity AP tune on my F-Type S (so from 380 HP to 416 HP) and it really does make a difference, I can only imagine how much better this tune would feel on a base 340 HP car.
