Hi everyone, i have a question regarding aj126 , i need some information and explanation if possible.,
as far as i understand this engine is installed on XF 1st generation face lift, and 2nd generation,
correct me if i am wrong ?
On 1st generation face lift this engine can be used with 5w30 according to jaguar manual?
on 2nd generation due to the fact that they make their contracts better with castrol they try to upsale oil with 0w 20 and 5w20 and i dont get that...
this is from the owners manual of 1st generation face lift,
V6 Petrol engines
SAE 5W-30 engine oil meeting Jaguar specification WSS
M2C913-C is preferred. Oil meeting ACEA A3/B3 specification
may be used.
my question is on 2nd generation xf with aj126 can oil 5w30 be used because i dont like 0w20 and 5w20 too little options mostly from castrol...
i like amsoil, motul , and many other brands...
Well it's your car?
But Jaguar made the change to 0W-20 across the entire engine line so I think it was for a reason?
Jaguar never really published anything but from reading the forum there is a general feeling the reduce viscosity was related to the VVT stuff and the failures Jaguar was seeing under warranty.
Note too there were mechanical upgrades to the timing stuff as well. Chains and tensioners were changed.
I use 0W-20 but the oil cap on my 2014 XJR still says 5W-20.
I use Mobil 1 ESP X2 0W-20 as it meet's Jaguar spec. STJLR 51.5122
