Auto trunk lift failures

Auto trunk lift failures
Been having intermittent auto trunk lift failures. It unlocks by key fob, button on dash, or button on trunk but doesn't lift and must by opened by hand. It always closes by the button on the trunk. Then yesterday I had a "Trunk not locked" message even though it was locked. It went away after a restart. Are there any sensors or switches that control trunk lid position?

Maybe, this is one of the glitches made by a dying battery. Is your XF's battery still OEM? Do a multimeter test on the battery's voltage before you start the car in the morning.
There is a member at the F-Pace forum that has a very strange occurrence on his car. His problem was, the Gear Shift only rises at 2nd start. At first start the gear shift does not rise, then he re-start the car again & the gear shift rises. No error codes, nothing, like the car is in good condition playing tricks on him. He went to JLR dealership and was told he needs a new Gear Shift assembly. I replied to his post and I recommended to do a Hard Reset. I guess he did but never replied back. After several weeks...he gave an update. He got a new battery & his F-Pace's Gear Shift is now rising at first start.
I hope you find the culprit. Good luck.

I wish it were that simple. I keep my battery at minimum 50% SOC. I do mostly short trips and regularly check the SOC and trickle charge it to top it off. I'm guessing there's a switch/sensor in the latch that works with the auto latch feature? Or maybe something by the motor/drive mechanism? Anyone know?

Like I said, I never let the battery SOC get below 50%. And the problem occurs even when the SOC is close to 100%.
