General Jaguar and XF questions from prospective owner
I've been looking into the possibility of picking up a lightly used XF Sportbrake in the near future and have some questions.
Firstly, is there an easy way to tell what options are on a specific car? Is there a website or tool where you can plug in a VIN or the like and see what the original factory options would have been? I've seen a couple of cars for sale at dealerships that aren't Jaguar related and finding out the exact options on those cars seems to be hit and miss.
Secondly is there a way to tell when the original factory warranty started for a given car? I'm assuming you could use the VIN but it might require a call or inquiry to Jaguar specifically?
Next, are there any specific trouble areas to look out for on the 2018 XF and Sportbrake cars? Any "must have" options? For me personally the one that stands out the most is the Tech package with it's nicer digital display and larger screen and better stereo. Beyond that I'm not sure what might be most desirable or helpful.
Lastly, the Sportbrake does not seem to be widely available and I understand their aren't a ton of them around. If my local dealership has an XF 3.0 available how close would that be to giving me a similar experience to test driving the Sportbrake? Would the seats at least be the same (I am fairly picky about seat comfort and positioning).

I can run the vin# through my Topix account for options list.
Calling any dealer will also reveal the Vin#'s start date and Warr expiry...
Or simply run a Carfax (slightly less accurate I've found).
If you are a masochist you can wait the 45 minute hold time to call 1-800-4Jaguar to run the vin.
iirc, all US Sportbrakes are "S" models so they run the extra 40 bhp v6 engine, aero package, better leather and upgraded electronics. Driving an XF-S (x260) will be a decent compare except for the different body config; probably the extra framing of the rear hatch raises the CoG a tad.
Only Edmunds.com listings seem to detail the Tech Package accurately for US listings.

I've not even test driven one of these yet but I sure do like the combination of looks, luxury, utility and performance. I'm north of Atlanta and it looks like the Chattanooga Jaguar store has a couple available (one new and one CPO) so I may get with them and see if they would be willing to meet me half way or something for a test drive.

I have an appointment for Saturday morning with a sales representative from Jaguar Chattanooga to test drive a CPO 2018 XF-S Sportbrake. They graciously agreed to meet me about 30 minutes from my house for the test drive so I am appreciative and looking forward to it. Yulong White with Brogue isn't my first choice but neither do I dislike the combination as I find the Sportbrake to be very attractive in pretty much any color. I've inquired if this one can be updated with Apple Carplay and hope to hear back on that soon.

Nice ride -- I don't think you will be disappointed --- I certainly have not been. My only complaint would be dealerships are far and few between making scheduled maintenance under CPO somewhat challenging. Bought mine with 13k on the clock for just under $48k about a year ago -- now have just under 30k miles. No problems so far, but definitely get the extended warranty, because Jaguar. I think you can buy that one for under $50K too. I actually really like that color combo with perhaps the exception of that faux wood on the center console -- easy fix but also personal preference.
