Hot Oil Smell

Hello Jared..
I'll bite on the bump..
Sorry for your troubles.
After 10 weeks, what is your update for us on the smell?
1. More, Same, Less..?
2. Smell during easy motoring now too?
3. Any Oil stains or greasy oil feed lines?
4. Indy Jag mechanic diagnosis?
5. Hit up a post on any other Jag forums?
6. Any Check Engine Codes?
I googled nhtsa.gov for you and this looked potentially causal as a diaphragm failure at this point would certainly escape oil mist... ya?

@Michael John
Thanks for the bite. I like the SSM74375 angle - it sounds about right, or should I say Smells about right. I keep thinking it is something to do with a crankcase breather - not that I know it has one, but no leaks and an oil smell, I figure it must be emanating from the engine in the form of escaped foul air. I'll be sending that to my service advisor at British Motors.
As for your other questions:
After 10 weeks, what is your update for us on the smell?"
1. More, Same, Less..? Same, maybe a little less
2. Smell during easy motoring now too? I don't do much "easy" motoring, but longer distances at highway speeds will bring it on.
3. Any Oil stains or greasy oil feed lines? None.
4. Indy Jag mechanic diagnosis? Not yet. I suppose I should try John's Jaguar here in SF, but I associate him with older Jags. Also, the car is under warranty, so not to keen on potentially out-of-pocket - although I see your point.
5. Hit up a post on any other Jag forums? This is the only Jag forum I'm in.
6. Any Check Engine Codes? None
Thanks,
Jared

I don't seem to be using oil, but it is a bit soon in my time with the car to tell. 35K on the motor. I'm in San Francisco, so mostly short trips.
thanks for asking.

Just a guess here and I'm basing this on my own experience. Before #19 I would regularly take my car on high speed runs a couple times a year across the desert to Arizona and back. Cruise control at 90 and bump past 100 occasionally to pass. First 16K miles never used any oil that was measurable but I would get an oil smell only when I garaged after a run. Then came #19 and my driving is limited, all short trips around town, and I went through about a quart this year. Lots of short trips in hilly SF is hard on motors/oil. Especially if you hot rod on a cool motor or in twisties or hills/mountains. 0W-20 oil isn't real resilient.
