InTouch (NOT PRO) MAPS - no further updates - abandoned product
Hi all,
the continuing saga of Jag and InTouch maps. I've just been told by Jaguar Customers Services that will no longer update maps. No explanation, just abandoned.
My XF was first registered May 2017 and is a MY 2018, so after only 3 years Jaguar have abandoned support for a major car function.
With our non-pro navi being sd card based, is there exists a method to simply download map updates via a pc that supports sd cards?
I will check for 3rd party vendors.. maybe Denso directly?
Let us know how it works please. Also.....how do you check for the revision level you have installed now and what's the latest? I rarely use NAV but it would be nice to know it's as up to date as it can be when I do. Thx
Finally got time to update my Navi sd card..
Process is well detailed and the update executable (with sd card plugged into my laptop slot) is running as shown.
About 15 min process so far..
Update after 90 mins..
No joy.. 5 timeouts. I suspect the Coventry servers shut down at midnight gmt.
Will try again tmw..

Unfortunately on my wifi laptop, the process never completed.
Just a consistent black screen in the update executable after 20 minutes; each attempt.
I've switched the process from laptop to my pc.
Despite having fiber optic, the handshake with Jaguar/Here servers is the root problem; very slow reaction times from the updater.exe.
But.. after several attempts this morning, Progress! Latest Map version reads: Map of North America 28.4.10707.. whatever that means.
InControl Touch Map Updater.exe will ask you to create a profile within it.
Email, Name, Address, etc.. then it will email you a verification link.
Once verified, it will ask for your $120usd payment.
I called 1800Jaguar and confirmed that 5year Warranty does NOT cover navi updates.
So I paid the $120usd and download is progressing.
Typing updates as progress commences..
Be sure to boost the CPU priority resources for the MapUpdater.exe to High through Windows 10 Task Manager!
And Finally..!
SD Card files appear to zero out the original 2015 data; adding a "*.fbl.md5" extension.
Then it fills-in the Sept 4th 2020 data with the ".fbl" extension.
I will test the revisions tonight in-car and post results here.
SD Card File Structure Updated: Each file seems to be reduced to 1KB then supplanted by updated one.
Total process time ( ignoring the various .exe timeouts) should take about 60 minutes.
This assumes no failure points and Gigabit fiber connection on a Win10 pc.
Anxious to hear the experiences of other Forum Members.
Thanks for your patience!

Reason: Update
....I will test the revisions tonight in-car and post results here.....!
Thanks for being the guinea pig on this and I'm looking forward to your results. Does it give you a new build date/rev level or just when the user updates it?

Tested..
The addition to our neighborhood is now showing.
These streets were completed Nov 2019 as shown below.
See Bailey Hill Rd in 23112.
This latest map revision does NOT include the streets built in 2020.
Neither the software revision number nor the sd card file structure reveals the true date of the revisions but based on my neighborhood I'd estimate Dec. 2019.
The 8gb SD card has gained 1.1GB of new data@$120!
(from 4.6GB to 5.7gb)
Doing this right now as we speak as well, went on a road trip last weekend and was constantly switching speed zones due to all the different interchanges in such a short distance without catching all the signs. It was pretty difficult to insure I was maintaining a legal speed when my GPS was either 10MPH above or below because it hasn't been updated in so long. Even my local area It constantly thinks the posted speed limit is lower than it actually is. Plus nothing worse then expecting a POI you go out of your way to get to only to have it looked as if it had been closed for over a year.
Sucks spending 120 on something that really should be free during the warranty period, but such is life and at least we don't get nickle and dime'd everywhere else like some other brands do *cough* BMW *cough*
Hello F1V, I'm new to the forum so please excuse my lack of decorum, I just read your post on the loss of coolant or in my case coolant loss without a trace, although I suspect that the shroud that encompasses the underside of the vehicle has done an excellent job of keeping the coolant from leaking onto the ground (too bad they cant figure out how to keep it in the overflow bottle. What I would like to know is? What was the culprit? I am Heartbroken in the 2 years I've owned mine, I've never had any issues and now this, To make matters worse I live in the California desert, so a lack of coolant is a possible death sentence, and so I've been driving in eco mode and not exceeding 70 mph with a backup container of coolant, The coolant seems to diminish quicker under high load not to mention the dreaded RED Low Coolant Warning. at $21.00 a pop for coolant, it's more expensive than fuel.
I'm curious to know what was the outcome since my situation sounds very similar to your experience.
