Default Jaguar XF Boot lid Strut query

Hi all,

My Jaguar XF (X260) 2015 boot has all of a sudden using significant power to open the boot lid. Usually when it happens, it is the gas struts and I’ve changed them in my Jeep previously with ease but the Jaguar shape is a bit different. For a start, it has two bend ( ) arms which are metal and welded when I took the plastics off it. I cannot see where these gas struts are now?

When I search online, every photo and YouTube video shows the straight struts but my car doesn’t have these straight forward struts. Can someone please help and guide me to the right direction?

many thanks in advance.

kindest regards

Jay

Sir, when you search, are entering it as a X260 or year 2015? I think your car is an X250

hello, it actually comes as x260 because it is 65 plate (Sept 2015). The issue is the boot lid strut change, I cannot seem to find how is this bendy bar design works. Do I need to take the boot covers off to see if there are struts hidden inside?

kind regards

I would pull the trim panels off inside the trunk. Im pretty sure it has a spring not strut.

it has spring on the left and strut on the right hand side. I’ve ordered both from Jaguar direct (£70). Will replace it on the weekend.

many thanks all for your kind help.

Ok changed the right hand side gas strut and also the left hand side spring and it made no difference. The boot when closing falls like a rock from the sky and when opening it only opens the lock and heavy on lifting. Does it have any electric motor or something that might need fuse changed? How do I test a fuse and where will I find it please?

kind regards

Jay
