What exactly is your question? And are you looking at 163 or 180 PS? If I read you right either is going to be a bit of change from what you are currently accustomed to, although the lighter body could make a difference - I do not really know as I have no prior experience.
My MY 2017 2.0D is 18 months old, 50'000 km on the clock and is still as always a pleasure to drive. Company car, I had no choice about diesel and would not choose it on principle, but you cannot hold that against the car or its performance. At low revs the 163 feels underpowered compared with the 180, which of course it is, but in the end it does not really matter [to me].
Does that help?

If its the new XF from 2017, then the name of the car is the same, and it looks almost the same, but is totally different. The new car is constructed of aluminium, with a few steel panels like the doors and, (I think) trunk lid. Jaguar call this "aluminium-intensive" construction.
Suspension is new too. Interior is very similar in look to the old car. What the engines are for the USA, I don't know, but I think the petrol is a 3 litre V6 supercharged. There is also a 4-cylinder petrol, but I don't think Jaguar sell the diesel version in the US. Transmission uses an 8-speed ZF gearbox, or a manual is available.
Do check to make sure which model you're buying as a 2017 could be one of the last steel-bodied cars.
