My Jag isn't starting
Hey, mates. I've recently bought a Jaguar XF 2016 2.0 Diesel 132 KW. The car wasn't starting when I bought it. The engine turns very well, but it doesn't start. I verified the injectors, the fuel pump, the plugs, I tried to start it with a can of starter, but I had no luck.
How can I verify the timing? I'm a mechanic but I have never worked on a Jaguar.
Thank you!

It beats me. I don't know anything about diesels. I didn't even know that they had plugs or timing. I presume the valves open and shut in relation to the pistons going up and down, so they would have timing for that. Maybe they have glow plugs to put a hot spot in the cylinder to ease starting.
Do you have an OBD to look for codes?
I look forward to hearing how this gets resolved.

There is an inertia switch in the cabin (see Owner Manual), that on petrol cars, cuts the ignition and fuel pump. On diesels, there may be one as well, and if there is, it would cut the injector action, or maybe the fuel pump. So the engine turns over but gets no fuel. Has the car had a recent bump or accident ?
A diesel engine has "plugs", but they are "glowplugs" used to assist in cold starts, and which cut out as soon as the engine starts or not long after.
