OIL?

OIL?
Why does Jaguar keep oil type a secret? 2017 V6 SC and it says use Castrol 0W-20 on the filler cap but I can't find anything written about it despite searching. Even the Castrol site has no recommendation. I'll probably go with Castrol Edge fully synthetic unless there's a better recommendation written somewhere.

Intriguing choice apart from the dealer-only Castrol..

I think it's a bit of a scam by JLR and the dealers to get more money from us.
There is "ordinary" Castrol Edge 0W-20, which is freely available (at least in the UK) and moderately priced. Then there is Castrol Edge 0W-20 to JLR specification STJLR.51.5122, which is around 5 times the price.
I suspect it is no different (except in price) from the ordinary stuff but, if you want to preserve your warranty, you have to use the "special" stuff.

But I am sticking to Mobil 1 ESP X2 0W-20/ It says on the back of the plastic bottle it is Jaguar Land Rover approved.
