Has anyone else had any issues with the dealer over-filling your oil when they service the car? I purchased my 18 XF Sportbrake from a dealer in Detroit and was getting really poor milage. When I checked the oil it was indeed over filled. I then took it to my local Jag dealer and paid to have the oil changed picked it up let it sit for about 6 hours checked it and was still high. Called dealer they state it is impossible because a machine sucks all the oil out and fill it with the correct amount.
Go back to the dealer & have them correct that. An engine with an overfilled engine oil is bad for the engine gaskets and spark plugs. Drive moderately on your way to the dealer.
This will do to your engine as well, according to the experts. https://www.google.com/search?channe...overfilled+oil

That only works if the mechanic puts in the right code for your car. I bet your car is an AWD. Correct? The AWD takes one quart less than a RWD. It's more common for them to underfill by using the AWD code on a RWD car.

At least they used the correct oil!!
I had to fight all the way to UK Jaguar Engineering before they admitted their mistake and changed the oil to the factory called out oil!!
Story is here;
So...I take a picture of the dash with the oil level image up clearly showing its high and giving the warning, they still don't believe me and say there is no way that it is correct and tell me if I want I can make another appointment, 3 weeks out and they can look at it. Called Jaguar USA who called the dealer and they said they would take it right back in. I drop it off and like an hour later they send me an image of the oil level at a normal reading. They now claim that you need to take the car is still at operating temperature but has been shut off by no more then 20 minutes. Personally I think it is BS and they sucked a quart out and took a picture and sent it to me. If the car sits overnight and cools and the oil drips down into the pan I would think that reading would be more accurate then some window 10-20 minutes after you shut it down. Too much is too much and not enough is not enough. If anything cold oil would contact not expand showing not enough oil?? Love having a warranty but really hate the dealer.

Take a reading the next morning if it is in MAX & no Overfilled Oil message. On the contrary, my 2.0T has a dipstick (which I prefer).

I agree, sometimes you don't know what the dealer will do next to your car. Be it good or bad.
I have read some good recommendations from members on this forum about "Champions Jaguar Service" here in Houston. I think you are not far away from that place either. I have never been there but I will take a visit the next time my XF needs service

Yep, very common on the F-Type, many posts of dealerships overfilling AWDs both V6 and V8. The RWD takes 7.25 litres but the AWD takes 6.5 litres as it has a smaller and different shaped sump pan, to clear the AWD components. Keeps on happening despite owners telling the dealership "it's an AWD don't overfill", it seems many dealerships simply dial up "V6" or "V8" into the oil pumping machine and forget all about AWD vs RWD, then when the customer complains they swear black and blue they put the right amount in "because the machine said so".
Also the OP hasn't come back with has he got an AWD or RWD.
flatm3, this is good info to know and what to make sure the dealership does when it comes time for their factory covered maintenance and just straight up when things are weird. I had read about this on other pages, but was hoping the dealers here in WNY were on point. I hope they don't continue to disappoint.
Cool to know there's another sportbrake here in WNY by the way. I've seen one other first edition XF sportbake like mine that came all the way up from Miami, and then apparently there's a silver one also. Nobody knows what these wagons are, so I hope you are least having fun owning it when you aren't at the dealership!
What's really sad about all of this is it's totally unnecessary!!
How can a car dealer change ANY fluid and not check afterward that the level is correct???
Is this not just common sense??
Or do they just hire moron's who play on their phone all day long??

The Buffalo dealership sold 2 and 1 was totaled. The surviving one lives in Wilson on lake Ontario so just as likely to be around Rochester as Buffalo.
Happens every time and I know my service advisor well since I had an XF and then an F-Pace, he writes on the ticket to check oil level after changed. He knows I'll check now as soon as they're done but is still over-filled every time. They do suck some out to get it back to normal when this happens.

The Buffalo dealer told me that too, but I bought a sportbrake in October, so the Queen City is back up to two! Also, the only time I've gone into the dealer here for service, it came back with overfilled oil. I ended up removing about a quart before the meter registered "OK," which squares with what everyone else has been saying.
I wonder how many Jags are on the road that has an engine with an overfilled oil in it. This NEWF-Type that has 12 miles on it has an overfilled oil and the the person shooting the video isn't aware of it. HELLO?
See video below.
Amazing! I have noticed that there is a big difference between cold and warm/hot oil levels but when the excessive oil level warning comes up there's no denying it.
