I am selling my 2002 X-Type with 125k miles and I am looking for a XF with less than 60k miles. My question is- what problems should I expect with a XF if I keep it until it reached 125k miles? Owners with high milage XFs what has been your experience with items that have failed?
Thanks

What engine type? Diesel or Gas? 4 or 6 cyl?
To answer your question, it all depends on the way how it is maintained and the way you drive it. If you've always drove it like you stole it, the engine wouldn't last lost long
The 4 cyl Ingenium diesel has timing chain issues. 2019 and beyond not so much.
The 4 cyl Ingenium gas engines (introduced to late 2016 models and beyond) are proven to be dependable. I've seen some F-Pace 2.0 Turbo that has Ingenium engines with over 100K miles listed on the car market being sold. Mine is a 2018 XF with Ingenium 2.0 Turbo and has been a GREAT car for me.
The 6 cyl are proven true engines but have system cooling problems. Search on F-Type and XJ forums on discussion how to avoid engine overheating and solutions or seek advice to members there if you are planning to buy an XF with 6 cyl engine.
Good Luck

Mine is currently at 85k miles, I’ve had the car a little over 12 months, no major issues thus far from recent and passed MOT’s. It did have a vehicle health check alongside the MOT yesterday, where they picked up a small oil leak from turbo/back of engine, and an engine rattle.
I’ve had issues with the thermostat (fixed now) and still chasing another rogue engine light which is linked with the Intercooler/water pump.

I'm at 170k km and I've had a water pump, brakes and two electrical harnesses in the trunk. Other thing was the pin that stops/allows the shifter to rotate wasn't firing due to a resistor's solder breaking down on a board in the shifter unit. Fixed for $20 and a few hours although most don't look very hard and just replace it for $2500 installed.

I know you made this post here six months ago or whatever I have a 2012 XS portfolio with only 47,100 miles on it and it’s on the marketplace on here and I’m trying to sell it but I just went on disability and I can’t afford it anymore unfortunately because I love this car and it’s on the marketplace like I said it needs a serpentine belt and brake pads in the front. I haven’t drove it a month or so . I’m trying to work on it now. I’m not a mechanic, but I’m trying to put the serpentine belt on myself and I’m started taking parts off the front to put it on and check the pulleys. Look on marketplace pictures everything the paint job there’s like brand new still no swirl scratches nothing interior is mint. Thank you very much John.

True but, unfortunately the front and rear subrames, to which the suspension components are attached, are steel, and steel "protected" with one coat only of black paint. These subframes are known to rust quite badly if extra protection is not applied to them before the rust takes hold
