quick paint job

Backed the RR corner into a signpost and got some scrapes on the plastic bumper. I used scratch remover from the car parts store and got a lot of the superficial smear off, but some portions had clearly gotten down into the painted surface. My insurance agent recommended a local good quality body shop that promised to take off the bumper, repair and paint and reinstall for $750. I got an appointment 6 weeks out and wondered if the Missus was going to notice the scrape in the meantime.
So I went to an auto paint store and they made me up an aerosol can for $10. The guy photos my VIN from the door jam, puts it in his computer and gets the exact match recipe. He offers me a clear coat also but I tell him it is only for 6 weeks, that I am getting the job done by a shop.
I mask off the area, give it several real light coats and after a week I cancel my appointment. It looks pretty good.
When the weather warms I will give it a light sanding with 1000 or 2000 grit, some more light coats and I will go back and get some clear coat.
If it starts to peel or otherwise get funky I can always get the shop to do the professional job, but in the meantime it looks fine and Whisky Tango Foxtrot I can put off spending $750. And the Missus would notice the car was missing for several days.
Just saying.

"Dark Sapphire" on the paperwork, some other term on the paint can.
My spray did ridge up a little next to the tape I used. And in full light I can see I should apply a little more paint before a clear coat.
I plan to sand the surface and the ridge, maybe 600 - - 1,000 grit and I will inquire for the thinest tape. Maybe masking tape with the thinest over the leading edge.
I remember pin striping tape from the olden days.
