Should I buy a 2.0d XF?
Hello,
I’m on the hunt for a daily in the 10-15000€ range. I’m currently split between the XF and its competition aus München. I like the XF better, both for its presence and for its (to me) nicer interior.
The problem is, it seems as if every single car for sale around these parts has the 2.0 diesel. On the test drive, I had no problems aside from it being somewhat anemic (compared to my current Alfa Brera), but I’ve read a bunch of horror stories about stretched timing chains costing north of 2000€ to replace and blown turbos.
So, my question is: how bad is it, actually? Will it work as a reliable means of getting from point A to point B in style, or should I look for something German?
