Default This socket

Please who can help me out , I see this white socket with 2 pins / holes at the battery terminal of my 2009 jaguar xf. I feel it might be for the earth.

But am still looking for the other end , where I would connect the socket

This is the white socket

The socket on top the battery

Yes the dealer screwed up!
That is a "transport" plug. Whatever that means but it is suppose to be disconnected and then the plug tucked out of sight BEFORE the car is delivered to the customer. Apparently when the cars are shipped that is connected (To something?) to isolate the battery from the car.

Correct AFTER the car has arrived at it's destination the plug is disconnected for good. Never to be used again.
I don't know where the factory attaches that plug either?

There's unconnected plugs all over the car, usually for features not installed. If you're not experiencing a failure why worry?

It's good to understand your car and this one is easy to explain.
