Hello, Just bought this car 2 weeks ago. It’s a XF 3.0 Saloon 2011. This only morning I noticed a ticking sound right after the engine is off. It’s like tapping an empty soda can with a metal rod. The ticking sound tempo is faster right after the engine is switch off and slowly fading. It’s more on the left side of the car and it’s under the hood and just behind the left front wheel.
This is the first time I bought a used car and I am worried cause I have small children with me. I don’t know if it still safe.
Please help. I have attached a short video in here.

Is the car a diesel?
If it is then the sound is most likely the DPF (diesel particulate filter) or another part of the exhaust system cooling down after a DPF regeneration.
When a regen runs the DPF gets very very hot then when you park the car most times there is a regular/rhythmic ticking sound as the DPF and the bits of the exhaust system around it cool down at different rates.
If this is the cause of the sound then it's quite normal and nothing to worry about.
