Hello my name is Jasz,
I am new to this forum, and appreciate all the helpful insight.
My partner has a jaguar xf 2017 3.0lt that for the past 2 days the trunk is opening randomly. I am not an expert on the knowledge of this vehicle but I am willing to learn. If anyone has any experience or recommendations on cause/resolve for this issue, it would be greatly appreciate.
*** It has been found open when no one is in the car and the fobs are hanging on the keyhook and the car is locked. There doesn’t seem to be any signs of obstruction or visible damn to the locking mechanism or switch box.
Thank you in advance!
Jasz

1) I think it's the key fob. Here'e what I want you to do, Wrap the key fob inside an aluminum foil before going to bed and then check if the trunk is open the next day. If the trunk is close, then there is something wrong inside the key fob. Open the case and clean the chip board and while your at it, change the coin battery as well (preferably Duracell or Energizer) . If the key fob case is old and flimsy, change the key fob case costing $10 -$15 on eBay.
2) Or it could be the trunk is not properly shut. Lube with grease on locking mechnism
3) Check the car's battery. A lot of weird things happen when the battery is weak on these cars with a lot of electronics that needs constant power from the battery.
