I have a 2016 XF with the base 380w audio system. The other day I was looking in the trunk trying to find where the subwoofer was just so I could see what it looked like. I am pretty sure I found it in the trunk on the right side behind the carpet liner. What caught my eye was an extra wire connection/plug on the wire harness going to what I presume is the sub.
I wanted to ask if anyone was familiar with what it is used for. I attached pictures of it. I didn't unwrap it but the plug is hard plastic and rectangular. Curious to see if anyone knows something about this.
It could be anything. Most cars are wired for options that people may not opt to get. Makes building the harnesses cheaper and more uniform which saves money. The other thing i can think of is what they call a header connector. Its a bunch of wires that are bridged together in a connector for splicing purposes. If you unraveled the tape, you may see the header connector. Option 2 is my thinking due to all wires being same color.
