Xf 2010 3.0 v6 d - pro/con
Hello all, currently the owner of an 09 xkr and a VW passat, im thinking of getting rid of the passat and replacing with a XF 3.0D model. What are the pros and cons? Real world mpg etc. I will be doing 60 miles daily and im 24 so imagine insurance may play a factor too.. T.I.A

It will depend on where you live, I suppose. Presumably you can afford the XKR insurance, but does it cover travel to/from work ? . I can't see the XF being more than that, but will probably be more than the Passat. If the Passat is petrol, the Jaguar will be broadly comparable in fuel consumption, I would think. Road tax will depend what year the Jaguar was built.

I can't see where you are, but my 3.0 S gives me comfortably over 40 UK mpg with a 50:50 mix of cross country & motorway driving. Motorway at a steady 75 mph gives up to 50 mpg. Purely cross-country I get around 38 mpg. The upside of the 3.0 D is effortless performance and overtaking, but the 2.2 D is more economical. Both engines are robust and live a long time if you service them regularly.
My 3.0 S is cheaper to run per mile than the Saab turbos I've used as daily drivers for years, accelerates and handles pretty well for a heavy car and is suuuuch a nice place to be on a long run.
Happy hunting.
