XF R sport 3.0 lt potential purchase
Evening all
I haven’t posted much as a new member I joined a few weeks ago as we are looking at replacing the Discovery 3 with a Jaguar XF
We are off to look at a 2015 R sport 3 ltr
As I’m very familiar with JLR issues from the discovery forums and the fact that we seem to read quite a few posts on crank failure in the Discovery models ,my question is does the issue manifest into the XF as I have searched quite a lot and seem to find some related posts on forums or other information pages
On the other hand when Discovery owners are trying to locate a second hand engine to replace their failed unit the general opinion is to opt for the jag unit as it doesn’t seem to suffer the issues
Any comment would be greatly welcomed
Cheers Phil
ps the Jags a nice white one ,looks great

Wow!!!
Thanks for the heads up on the crank failures that LR even has a Topix on..
No known crank issues on x260 that I've read but wife will now NOT be getting a used LR RRS..

Are you in Europre? I'm not familiar witht he 3l Diesel engine offered in European XF. If you're refering to the 3l Supercharged v6 (Petrol), then I can give some pointers. The engine suffers from heat soak, coolant pipes tend to fail prematurely as a result. The cooling issues with the AJ 3.0 and 5.0 petrol engines are dicussed on these forums at length. After constant heat cycles, the coolant pipes become brittle and crack causing the coolant to (in many cases) burst out. There is also the issue with the timing chain. The Eaton superchargers tends to break - the plastic coupler inside breaks and rattles. Various electronic issues like reverse camera wiring corrodes, cooled and heated seat connectors break or become loose. Often, moisture gets into the trunk via vents behind the rear bumper cover causing the rear junction box to short/malfunction.
How do I know all this?
I've owned 4 JLR products: 2013 XF, 2018 F Pace S, 2018 Range Rover Sport and 2019 Jaguar XJL.
All had the 3l SC V6. The XF and F pace had their superchargers replaced under warranty, along with various coolant pipes. The RR had coolant leaks and minor electrical issues. The XJ is still new, but I've already had the car in shop for a minor coolant leak. I don't live in a hot climate zone either (Toronto, Canada), nor do I abuse my cars.
