Default XF Sportbrake tows skier to world record

I'm glad it was used to break a world record, but like everyone else who writes for the HP? I'm just glad we're getting this car at all. And the hot rod version to boot!

I saw one at the SF Auto Show today. I even got a key chain for letting them take 90 seconds of my time. It was a quick look but impressive enough I'd look again. If I were looking for a wagon yesterday I'd have gone with the Volvo V60. Now, I'd need to think a little longer.

Nice car, and good looking, but the price needs to be a little bit lower. I spec'd one out at the same price as an MB E400 and ended up ordering the MB (which will be our second one). The depreciation on the Jaguar has to enormous since depreciation on wagons in general (in the US) is very high. A price advantage of around $6k would perhaps have moved us to at least go to the dealer.

I didn't look at the price, I just looked at the car. My next car purchase is a couple of years away, so it was mostly curiosity (and a key chain) that had me looking at the Sportbrake. That, and I want the industry to see that wagons attratct attention. Hopefully, more attention in the showroom will lead to more and better choices for us.

In Europe, wagons are very popular in the US despite the efforts of automotive journalists. Here, everyone loves SUVs. Now that there are a few new wagons on the market, maybe people who are tired of SUVs and minivans will gravitate toward them. But at $70k +, you're not going to see too many MB E400's or Jaguar Sportbrakes abound.
