Well I would only do GMB for after market pump, I've used their pumps before with no issues. But that pump is only $35 for a reason.

I was kind of wondering about the ones on rockauto and other online aftermarket vendors as the pictures all look the same. Sometimes for small volume cars, there's only ONE manufacturer for a particular part and the OEM buys one with their logo on it and the manufacturer gets to sell one without the logo in the aftermarket. I was looking at the pictures of one online last summer and the details looked absolutely identical to the one from the Jaguar dealer as far as I could tell. But $35 does sound way too cheap even for aftermarket, like maybe it was returned for refund, the box was opened but wasn't installed so now they're trying to get rid of it online.

Part of me thinks that given how unreliable even the factory ones have been at this point there's not much to be lost by sticking a $40 one on there

I really, really despise the design of this water pump. It's prone to problems, it's a PITA to remove, it's even more of a PITA to install correctly, with that stupid ****ing tube on the back of it, and regardless of how often JLR change the design, I just feel it's going to break again at some point.

Two things to consider...the $35 pump may be simply a rebuilt pump, and/or may also have a plastic impeller. The $289 pump may be a "genuine Jaguar" part.........
