Default 09 xf rear axle seal leak

So some things are to good to be true, has any one experienced this issuse were it was indeed just the seal gone bad instead of the bearing wearing out the housing?

Any noise from the rear end? Not a common repair but the cars are all getting older so somewhat expected.
Has the rear diff fluid been changed? Do you have the E-Diff?

no noise or clunking at all, I know the guy I bought it off had a shop replace it so after inspecting the work they did I'm hoping it was just incorrectly done.

Wonder if the shop will stand by their work or has it been too long of a time?
Be sure and change the rear diff fluid after the repair.

I won't use them, just before I purchased it he said he had the oil pan gasket replace, I looked at it and it was leaking so I told him go get it fixed at a different place before I purchase it. I just Know that the 09 had that issuse with the contaminated diff oil from factory and how it would cause the bearing to wear out the aluminum housing. I'm getting it on hoist next next week, hopfully there is no play in the axle, this will mean the diffrence of either replacing the gasket hopefully or having to source a used one from the uk.

Yes that was reported when the cars were new but after all this time if you did have machining debris in the rear end I would have thought any damage would have appeared by now?

Your right it was a big deal at one time but that has faded with time and I assumed (Dangerous I know!) they have all failed by now?

Kinda like the Nickasil cylinder linings on the old 4.0L V-8. Yes it was a big problem but after the engines either failed or were fixed it's pretty much vanished at this point.
Hoping you just need a seal!
