The optical connection in your photo normally plugs into a breakout loom. This breaks out into 3 places, DAB (depending on the age of the car, if it's early DAB is here, if it's later it's under the passenger seat) Amplifier and Satnav. TV can have a module on the optical network here too, if you have it. You will need an optical loom that daisy chains the units you install in the boot together, in the right order, to match your requirements.

Car configuration
This retrofit is not possible unless you have access to an unlocked SDD diagnostic system, once you fit the amp and head unit there will be no sound until the Car Configuration File is updated. I know I guy in Warwickshire who can do this if you haven't got that side of things already sorted.
The head units used in the Base system without external amplifier are different to the ones that are with the external amp i.e. the B&W system. You can see the pic of both units next to each other, they aren't the same, they also have different software in them. You cannot run an external amplifier from a Base head unit.
Part number for the head unit to get is 7G9N-18C815-TB, that is the newest version, it's also used in the XK and the Freelander 2.
You will need to make up the wiring loom for the center speaker, as this is missing. You will also need to extend the fibre optic loop to include the amp. The rest is just a matter of plugging and unplugging.

I have just heard back from my last hope in finding a audio specialist that can complete the audio and yet again it's no so if anyone is willing to help or point me in the direction of someone that can, please get in touch. I'm willing to travel at the point so all areas considered!

Hey!
I am so glad I found this thread as it gives me hope it's possible to upgrade my amplifier in my 2010 Jaguar XF 3.0D.
I bought this car recently and it came out the previous owner has replaced all of the speakers to B&W already.
I have very basic options in the audio settings - no surround etc.
I have subwoofer installed.
Unfortunately, the audio still sounds very poor, so I think the amplifier is the "guilty" part.
I currently have 6H52-18C808-CD installed.
I purchased BJ32-19C164-AF, which has different sockets.
Please can someone advise how to replace my current amplifier with the new one I purchased? I am aware it's not the highest version, but if I manage to fit it in, I will look for a higher version which has the same sockets.
To my current amplifier there are three plugs connected:
- fiber (with laser)
- power
- green one with many cables
The fiber and power fit to the new one, but the green one doesn't.
I have some additional plugs around the amplifier. There is also one female green socket that I can connect the green plug.
Is this even possible or do I have to look for another amplifier?

I think you have the wrong amp.
The green male plug goes into the green female plug to bypass the amplifier when the car has the base sound system and there is no amplifier present.
The mid range system which has the amplifier in the rear of the car but is not marked as "B&W" and does not have surround options on the screen uses the same yellow Kevlar speakers as the high end system, so you probably have stock speakers. It just has fewer speakers and a different amplifier.
The spare connectors in your hand in the last photo are for the optional TV tuner unit and are not related to what you are trying to do. Hope that helps.

Do you think it's worth upgrading from `6H52-18C808-CD` to `6H52-18C808-DD` then?
I found it has slightly more power:
Or does it make sense only if I plan to add the missing surround speakers? They look pretty much the same/have the same sockets so I think the replacement should be easy
