Default 2009-11 vs 2012+ front end

I was in a small fender bender the other day and I think the hood/fender/bumper/headlight may need to be replaced. I may foot the bill for any extra cost on a 10-11 XFR front bumper or even a 2012 XFR front end. Thoughts?

As far as the 2012 conversion, I know the headlight mounts and connectors are the same. I'm not entirely sure about the rest but I'd bet the 2012 front end swaps on without an issue. Any Jaguar techs out there want to chime in?

Thanks,
Chris

Looks like I'll play it safe and go with a 2010-11 XFR bumper/hood. I shouldn't have to pay any extra for it. I might as well. The 2012 could be a little too complicated for a shop to want to take on plus I don't know if I want to pay for the other headlight and two fenders/prep/paint (current ones are fine).

Does anyone know if the 2012 grill only comes in black? I need to replace my black pack grill and it looks like the 2012 grill only comes in black anyway so that might be easier for the shop to find. Is the main upper grill interchangeable throughout the years 09-12? It appears to be the same minus the little R badge.

The 2012 brochure mentions and shows the black mesh insert within a chrome surround for the R model. The black pack option for the R model mentions and shows a black surround as well as the black mesh insert. The sport pack for all XFs show just the black mesh insert. Don't know if they fit the prior model years.

I believe the 12 grill is a different size and subtly different in shape as well...

Good to know. The "black pack" on the previous years still had the chrome outer surround.

As far as the size, you could be right. It's hard to tell from pictures.

the 2012 grille will not interchange with an earlier model. body wise, pretty much every thing forward of the windshield changed.

Was there any issues with the swap or was it pretty straight forward? Is that your car in the picture?

I priced out the bumpers through the dealer and the XFR bumper and XF supercharged are the same price ($1102 each). They really rape you on the grills though. Each of the lower pastic grills (3 total) are $135. Each of the chrome trim pieces (2 total) are $139. Ouch.

I don't think the grille from 2012 is going to work on the previous models. It sits much differently.

Yup, I'm not even going to take a chance on it. From the pictures they look like they could be identical. I could just go to the dealer and measure it out if I cared that much but it's not a big deal I'll stick with the 09-11 black pack grill.

If you price out the parts, don't go buy list price. They can discount greatly at the dealer. Trust me I experienced it. Look at prices on Merriam Jaguar parts they are updated and discounted. Dealer should match.

No, look at the picture he posted above. He went from a Supercharged XF to a XFR front end. Pre-2012 front end.

I think it is possible. I noted the light connector is the same. I'm not sure if the pin-out changed. It may have so that would have to be looked at. The mounting locations for the fender and lights are all identical. When 2012 cars start showing up in salvage yards it will be more cost effective.

My car is finally done. I picked it up on Friday. I stopped off at a local liquor store and immediately received a nice comment from someone which made me feel great. Then it started snowing... It was 60F every day earlier that week! Saturday/Sunday we received a massive blizzard so I moved the Jag into my spare garage for the winter.... I guess I'll have to wait until spring to show it off now.
