Default 2009 XF Brakes Sound like they are Dragging

My wife has a 2009 XF and at slow speed stopping (30 mph or less) the brakes sound like they are dragging.

Pads, rotors, both?

On my 2009 there is an odd dragging sensation from the rear brakes at slow speeds only immediately after start up and also in slow speed tight corners. This seems normal and may be traction control related or perhaps a function of the park brake auto adjust.

Be aware that the rear brakes wear very rapidly. Reports of the need for new rear brakes as early as 10,000 miles are common. Mine were completely worn out at 27,000 miles.

Look at the rear calipers through the wheel. If it looks like the caliper is very close to the disc, it is due to pad wear and the gap you can see is pretty close to an accurate measure of the pad thickness remaining. The metal pad backing plate isn't very thick and recessed somewhat into the caliper.

Just as some additional information... when I take my foot off of the brake (at slow speeds) I can still hear some dragging sound as if the brake has not disengaged.

Thoughts?

The likely culprit is the electronic park brake. Ask your dealer to reset it. The adjustment is automatic.
