2009 XF Key Fob

I was looking to buy a new fob since mine was getting worn and opened my current one (which I've done before to change a battery) to see what all I needed to get or if I could just get the shell and transfer everything (chip, battery, etc) over. After I put it back together and went to my car, the fob wouldn't let me unlock my car. Finally I just opened the door and the alarm sounded but quit when I placed the fob in the slot beneath the steering wheel. So I figured the chip still works and everything. I thought maybe the battery but no warnings of low battery like it did before have come on so I'm kind of at a loss right now. Any thoughts?

If it's the same fob as the 2010 XF then you can get the keypad and the two chrome bezel edges on eBay very easily to make it look new again. Only about 20 dollars and you keep the innards of your one
My guess is that when you reassembled it something didn't go back in correctly - maybe the keypad part or perhaps battery is a bit loose. Would try taking it apart and back together a few times
Btw - someone found a pretty good looking fob cover about 6 months ago and posted about it on here. Protects the fob (and hides the wear) and only a few dollars I think

Yep, this one (and plenty of others the same out there on eBay or AliExpress):
5 Button Jaguar Car Key Case Holder Car Key Fob Cover for Jaguar XK XKR XF XFR | eBay
I got two a few months ago, only used one so far, very happy with it.
