Hi Frank,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.
I have moved your post from the forum for the S-Type to the forum for the X250, which is the Jaguar factory project code for your 2009 XF. Here you will find knowledgeable owners of similar cars.
One question that will help us help you is what are the circumstances that have prompted you to seek out the MAP sensor?
In the meantime, please visit the New Member Area and post a required introduction so we can learn something about you and your Jaguar and give you a proper welcome, and please read the Forum Rules.
Cheers,
Don

Grab the 2010 / 2011 XFR Workshop Manual from my Droxbox here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/bet26xniua...kshop.pdf?dl=0
The manual also covers the 5.0 NA which I'm guessing you have.

Which engine does your XF have? Depending on the engine, it may have both a Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor (MAP), a Manifold Absolute Pressure Temperature sensor (MAPT or TMAP), and possibly a Secondary Air Injection Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor. Location varies depending on which engine your car has, so please let us know and we'll try to help.
What are the symptoms or codes?
Cheers,
Don

Still fighting this, my daughter is back home so I am dealing with it again.
this is a 2009 XF with the 4.2 liter engine.
it surges while idling, to the point of even dying sometimes. She had a mechanic look at it when she was out of state and they replaced the passenger side head gasket and intake gaskets. It did not fix the problem. It is throwing code p0106. She had ordered a MAP sensor for it and I have looked everywhere and see nothing like it.
Thanks for the help

Thanks for finally getting back to us! Here are the definitions and published possible causes of P0106 from the 2008 and 2010 Factory Workshop Manuals:
The MAP Sensor is located on the rear/firewall end of the intake manifold. I am attaching the instructions for removing & replacing the sensor from the FWM, which states that the intake manifold must be removed. This may or may not be true, depending on the vehicle and the clearances and obstructions you have to deal with.
Are there any other codes stored that may help narrow down the diagnosis?
Cheers,
Don

Hi PaleRider,
Maybe these illustrations will help. The upper illustration shows the forward end of the intake manifold where the throttle body elbow is mounted. The lower illustration shows the rearward end of the intake manifold where the MAP Sensor is mounted. In the lower illustration, the intake manifold is shown upside down.
Cheers,
Don

I've had surging similar to what you describe on two occasions and have found the connector to the MAF sensor on the air filter housing to be not properly latched home; i.e. bad connection. I'm guessing that in your case, after doing all the work you have done already, it is probably not just a matter of pushing the connector home properly but it would be worth investigating the MAF sensor and wiring.
