2009 XFR Buying Advice
Hi everyone!
Looks like I've narrowed my search down to a 2009 XFR with 49k on it.
Two questions:
1. Anything to watch out for? From the searches I've done seems as though these are pretty solid cars provided the proper maintenance is done.
2. Any options to watch out for or are the R's fully optioned already?
Thanks!

Heaps of threads and posts on here about what to watch out for, I'm not going to repeat them.
The 2009 XFR came pretty much fully loaded from the factory, some of the few options were sunroof, integrated garage door remote, TV, JagVoice (voice control of some functions) and adaptive cruise control.
The sunroof and garage door remote are nice to have but the last three are all fairly useless.

If it's your first jaguar I wouldn't recommend it unless you are okay with fixing things. 2009 is the oldest XFR from my understanding and at such low mileage I am not sure if it has faced through the problems / TSBs / recalls to get it fixed up like the newer ones.
If you are already familiar with jags and love them like most of us here then go for it after a pre purchase inspection.

Coolant Issue(s)
Evidently there are some reoccurring cooling issues with the X250. I just purchased a 2011 a few weeks ago and blew a coolant crossover pipe/outlet pipe. Well I think that's what is is. I just had it towed to a shop yesterday. From some of the background research I've done on this forum, it would be a good idea to make sure the thermostat, water pump, and crossover pipe are in good working condition. I'm not sure how easily discernible that is just by looking at them though.
I'm sure, as has been noted already, that a search would yield more info - but that's what I have on the top of my head as a new/junior member. Even with only a couple weeks of ownership and a pending repair, I'm already smitten by this damn thing. It is smooth by default, but turns into a monster on request. Hopefully this current issue is minor and is one of few.

Just my 2c. But given the reported issues with the 2009 rear diff, and the cost of repair, I'm not sure I'd take that risk. I'm sure it's not really that frequent an issue, but there have been enough on the forum to know it's not just a one off.
I doubt a 2010 or 2011 is that much more expensive? And you get the 5L V8

The 4.2 was never put in an XFR and I believe the 4.2 never had the e-diff that the XFR came with either.
Again we could have model year naming difference confusion, in the UK the XFR first came out in 2009 but in the US this was MY2010, dunno how it works in Hawaii though.

That said, there are plenty of reports of early XFs including the SV8 having diff problems caused by incorrect factory diff lube or similar, nearly all of which should have been fixed during the warranty period.
Before you put any money down for the car you are looking at, assuming it is a 4.2 and not a 5.0, you should ask the seller for proof that the diff problem has been fixed.

My advice to you is have the car checked out before you buy, the owner should have no problem with that, if he does, run away.
also are you an opptimist or a pessimist, I'm on Jaguar #3 and I haven't had a major problem yet....I'm assuming the car is under 30k I would get it and enjoy it. Good luck
