Default 2010 5.0 xf supercharged vin #last six r75207 62,0000 miles

My cat is a little sick. At first start up of the day,it starts and idles ok but when I head out on the road and accelerate it misses and carries on something awful. As the car comes up to operating temp it will smooth out somewhat. Now if I stop and shut the car off for ten- fifteen minutes or longer restart the car and drive, no more symptoms and will drive and run perfectly. There are no codes what so ever. Very puzzling. thank you in advance for any help or advice.

My car finally gave a code p0193 fuel rail sensor fault. Does anyone know the location of this sensor and or instructions for replacement. Again the car is a 2010 xf sc. And again thanks in advance.

It's at the rear of the high-pressure fuel rail on the passenger side. I can't imagine it's particularly easy to get to.

Also it's possible this code could be failure of the high-pressure fuel system as opposed to a sensor failure.

Here's a pic from my rebuild, you can see it on the rear of the fuel rail.

So the saga continues. just got my car back from the jag dealer. they advise to drive it until it breaks. they do not believe it is the sensor because they drove the car with a fuel pressure gauge connected and found the high pressure side was fluctuating between 200 psi and 1700 psi. They say that there are two pumps besides the one in the tank which they say is operating correctly. the pumps are approximately $500.00 each plus labor for the install, but are not really sure if the pumps are the problem therefore the drive it until it breaks solution. So the same symptoms persist. Runs really rough at cold start until the car is shut off and allowed to sit for 15 - 20 mins Upon restart it still has a few hiccups but not nearly as bad. This sure is a puzzler. I don't think it would be a vacuum problem because of the intermittent symptoms.

Interesting..... did they say they were able to duplicate your symptom as you experience it? The way you describe it sounds fairly consistent. Wonder if they watched fuel pressure up to high side, then watched high side while cranking.

Is P0193 the only code present?

Just an FYI, these newer vehicles have 6 digit codes, usually in format of P1000-XX. In this case, its P0193-00, its the only one that comes up. In the future be careful when posting codes, because sometimes you will need the last 2, as the first 4 could be same, but the last 2 could point in a different direction.

Thanks for the reply. I am assuming that the jag tech knows his stuff, he said he's been working on the 5.0 engines since there introduction, although he is stumped as well. The six digit code is news to me. It is very frustrating to hear the the jag tech tell me nope never seen that before, I don't know how to fix your car. It is pretty much a miserable experience driving the car as it jerks and bucks when you try to pull off a red light. As far as I know the p0193 code is the only code stored, I got that code with my scanner which is a generic reader. Again thanks for the input. I wish I knew where to go from here.

Hey Dave Tibbs, how big a job is it to replace the high pressure fuel pumps with the engine in the car. Seems that they can easily accessed from underneath the car. I got to do something with this car. It is still exhibiting the same symptoms but hasn't given any codes since the dealer cleared out the p0193 code. It's making crazy!

I've seen the fuel psi sensor do what your symptoms are, even bad enough to cause a no start. The fact that you have a code for your psi sensor also. I'd go with replacing the sensor.

The only fault I've encountered with high psi fuel pumps is them being loud or off timing, both of which would not fall under your symptoms.
