Question 2010 Base 4.2L

Im finally in the final stages of picking out a car. I've been looking through the threads and it seems that 5.0L is the way to go but i found a 2010 base model for an Excellent price but its 4.2L. and its the Green color. What do you guys think its about 5k cheaper am i really going to end up regretful if i get this vehicle? Or should i just go for the Premium 5.0? Ill be picking up the car soon so all input is welcomed

Just the Premium is worth the extra costs, never mind the huge difference in engine power.

I believe Jaguar replaced 4.2l with the 5 liter engine in all 2010 models.

You sure the 2010 model has the 4.2l?

The cars ive been looking at only the 2010 Premiums have the 5.0L and actually some of 2010 premiums didnt have the 5.0 L. could that possibly be an option?

From what i have known, all the 2010 model year Xfs came with the 5.0 liter engines.

Did a quick search and it does seem like some 2010 models came with the 4.2liter engine. Details of Used 2010 Jaguar XF, Warwick, RI - Yahoo! Autos

Now, i don't know if it was an option or not, but.....I am thinking the reason some 2010 model year XFs came with the 4.2 liter engines, occurred during the switch. As some may have crossed over in the process - from one year to another.

And, I would personally go for NA 5 liter engine, if you are planning on getting 2010.

According to my US 2010 MY brochure, the base had the 4.2 liter and the Premium had the 5.0 liter. This, of course, may only have been true for the US market.

I have the US 2010 MY Premium and I remember driving the base version which had the 4.2 liter engine when trying to decide which model to buy. I also remember the salesman saying that it was well worth the price difference (which wasn't that much) to move up to the 5.0 liter Premium. I cannot disagree. The 385 bhp 5.0 liter has considerably more power than the 300 bhp 4.2 liter and you can feel it, although the 4.2 liter "sounds" a lot better.

I agree with whitebyxf.

For the money, you can't go wrong with the 5 liter engine. I have personally driven the 4.2 liter, 5 liter and lastly the 4.2 liter supercharged. Overall, i like the 5 liter the best. And, it makes the best growl IMO.

Congrat!! That sounds like a great price too.
I'm in a market for XF myself but couldn't find 2010s in that price range. Could you tell me how many miles did it have and what state did you buy it from? Thanks.

That is an incredible price. At that price, I feel like getting a second XF to replace a much more lowly, but similarly priced, Optima Turbo.

Well the mileage was the reason it was priced at a good point. had 60k miles. so since i got such a good discount on the car price im buying an aftermarket warranty. I found some good ones for about $3500 4/5 years 50k miles
