Hey everyone, I am considering purchasing a used 2010 Jaguar XF Supercharged with around 19,000 miles. I'm debating purchasing now or waiting for more vehicles to be available later during the summer. Do you think this is a good deal for me to purchase now?
The dealer is offering me around $37k OTD including fees and sales tax. I haven't made any offer or anything, but would offering $35k be asking too much of a discount? Also, I am not doing financing and am planning to pay for it cash.
I'm upgrading from a 2003 Camry, so I can't wait to purchase a car, but I want to get a good deal for my hard earned money.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well, the general rule with making offers to car dealers is start low. You will never buy fom darker at less thn market price. The trick is to find out what the lowest market price might be. The dealer already knows and isn't going to tell you. Decide in your own mind how much you might pay and then take 20% off that number as your opening offer. Never use the dealer's initial number, ever, for any reason.
Their initial asking price will always be at the top of what they think someone might pay.
They are impossible to offend no matter what they might say.
The other rule is to be ready to walk away if the price seems too high. There will always be another deal to make, there's no shortage of used cars.

At that price I'm guessing the car is off warranty, seems a very good price but you would wise to have a warranty to be safe from some of the higher parts prices on these cars.
If you have a warranty and you're happy with the car, go for it.
There will be a few more cars in spring/summer...but there will be far more buyers...

I bought my 2010 XF SC with 21k miles about 6 months ago. It was a CPO purchase from a Jag dealer and I insisted on the select service extended warranty (6-yr 100k vs. the factory 4-yr 50k). I was told this costs the dealer around $2k and is money really well spent in my mind, as it doesn't take much on these cars to hit that in repair bills.
I paid about $41k incl the warranty. At the time I bought the 2010 SC was very rare in the used market so hard to move the price much, but I suspect more are coming off lease now. If I were you I'd go in at $35k and take it from there.
Either way, it's a wonderful car and I'm sure you'll love it! Good luck.

Thanks for all the advice. I decided to pass up on the offer for right now and just wait until there are more available since they should be coming off leases now. The car I was looking at did have factory warranty until Feb 2014 but for some reason it had rims from the '09 supercharged series. To be honest I like the rims from the '10 supercharged version a whole lot better. Also the dealership was selling it as a consignment vehicle so they didn't have a whole lot room to negotiate so the best they could probably offer me was 36k OTD. The last reason I decided not to get it was the color was indigo blue. Not that it looks bad, but I was really hoping for Black. The indigo blue looks too much like my Camry blue for which I've had for over 7 years and I think I need a change.
Anyways, hearing what a lot of you had purchased your vehicle for was very helpful and also helped me make my decision to wait. Were your purchase prices all quoted as OTD?
