2010 XF Lighter Fuse location
#22
Hi kkurulak.
I've just checked and I already have a relay in the location the of the light grey one (bottom right) from you're images, but not in the location in the bottom left corner where you have the darker grey one. From your note, I'd thought that was the location I needed to install the relay as I have a gap there. To date I've;
1. Installed the socket in to the plastic holder that comes in the kit, replacing the 2 cup holders and connecting the wire that was present underneath.
2. When the ignition is on and the lights are too, the ring around the socket glows.
3. I've check for power using an electrical tester and confirmed the ambient light cable (thiner one) is live, but the thinker accessory live has no power.
4. I checked both fuse 22 in the engine compartment (and replaced it) and fuse 28 in the passenger compartment (just in case).
5. I found another post that said some cars fro 2009 used fuse 32 in the engine bay rather than 22, but I have no connections there.
Was there anything else you had to do to get the socket to work?

Hi all, In case anyone else has this issue, I've worked out what the problem was. Basically, I needed a relay in the bottom left position of the engine compartment fuse box (the dark grey relay in the pictures above) if looking at the relays from the side of the car (the top left if looking at the 9 relay's from the front of the car). This is a different location to kkurulak's finings but was a free space. I have a 2009 3.0D Premium Luxury in case it helps anyone else in the future. A 15A fuse was already in situ, so all I had to do was buy the smokers kit and a relay. I went for a 5m5t-14b192-da relay which is 5 pin 40amp. Cost £8 from eBay.
Thanks to kkurulak for all the help
