2010 XF Tire losing traction and wheel vibration when turning
2010 XF SC 5.0L (34K miles)
I have noticed recently then when turning my wheels right and left (hard over) that the tires seem to loose traction and I am feeling a vibration. It does not sound like any metal to metal to metal contact and there is no evidence of contact between the tire and wheel well. This vibration and loss of traction is not present when going strait or with minor turns. Is this a common problem or did something seriously break?

Start by checking your front wheels for "free play" in the bearings and ball joints. Preferably lift the front end, grab/rock the tires by both hands and see if you feel any looseness or hear any clicking sounds. What you are describing is definitely not normal and could present risks. Likely, the best way to proceed would be for a shop to inspect the whole suspension.
Good luck and let us know what you find,

Check your power steering fluid level too. I experienced a similar feeling (vibration in front wheels felt through the steering wheel) on very cold days last year in my 2010 XF SC. Realized that power steering level was low. In fact, the PS pump was leaking (had to be replaced on warranty) and there wasn't enough fluid in the system to get the wheels turning sharply. That said, I don't think it would result in a traction issue, so may not be the same problem. But an easy check.
Else probably have to take it in for diagnostic at the dealer... Good luck!

Is the tread load on your tires? Does it only do it during slow tight turns?
I noticed something similar when my tire tread was low during slow tight turns. It went away for me when I installed a new set of tires. The old tires with low tread seemed to skip/slip slightly. It's almost like both the front tires weren't exactly turned at the same angle so one would get pulled and skip. I think it's common and has to do with the steering/suspension geometry in the front. I don't have any play or worn joints in my suspension.
