Default 2010 XF won't start

Factory certified 2010 Jaguar xf with ~30K miles, Did not have any problems so far to start even though I had left it in garage for over a month. But this time I was away for 5 days and upon my return, found the car dead.
Not remembering if the car was left unlocked or some lights were on. The car was found locked today. After a bit search found the way to access the battery with the manual key and could upen the trunk. Then I tried to jumpstart with a cable and battery from a running car. The A/C vent, viper, audio are getting on, but engine is failing to start. I can hear a click sound on each try. Has anyone experienced the same during a jump start ?
Should I leave the cable and other car running for some time and retry or would need to be towed to a dealer?
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks,

Yes let the other car run for a bit. Before I took it to a dealer I would install a new battery. At 4+ years that might be your problem.

Most jumpers available at auto stores do not have large enough diameter wires to carry starting currents of 400+ amps. Thus, as suggested above, you have to allow at least 15 minutes of "transfer time" from a donor car to deliver sufficient charged into your depleted battery to start the car.

I personally tend to just run the jumper to a donor car without running the engine. By running the engine, you basically allow a potential short circuit in the depleted battery to also short circuit the donor car's electrical system and ruin it.

Finally replaced my battery with one that had 170 amp RESERVE and I have had no further problems with "glitches" or low battery warnings etc.

Thanks a lot guys. It worked..
I had to keep the other car also running for ~30 mins and then the next try was a success. When I had tried it earlier without running the other car, its battery also got drained. My neighbor helped me to recover that and then I tried my luck with a running engine.
If it happens again, I will try to replace battery. Some other forums mentioned even the battery may be replaced under extended warranty for free.
Thanks again...

Well you got a warning and I would not ignore it. A battery is pretty cheap compared to other repairs.

uh no thats incorrect. A battery is a "maintenance item" but you should replace it. Especially now that its run down to nothing which kills half a batteries life. And then buy and use a maintainer to keep battery at full cap.
