2010 XFR vs 2012 XF SC Portfolio vs 2011 XJ
Hello All,
I am new to Jaguar after owning 2 Range Rovers and 2 S Class Mercedes. I have searched the forum and found a lot of info about the above cars but I am looking to purchase the 10 XFR or the 12 SC or an 11 XJ. I know this is the XF and not XJ forum but just in case any of you have experience with those also.
The 10 XFR has 46k miles and the 12 SC has 26k miles and the 11 XJ has 45k miles.
I do like the look of front and rear light leds and the seats appear to be better in the 12? It also has the BW sound upgrade.
As far as the 10...it's an XFR, not a whole lot more to be said.
11 XJ - updated headlights/tails but the interior is just all black and seems a little plain to me with no piping or anything.
As some of you have these, both or went from one to another I am looking to pick one in the next 48 hours so I appreciate all of your help, comments, etc. Which would you choose?
Thanks!

My XFR is for sale if you are looking to go that route! One of the cleanest examples out there right now

It truly is an amazing vehicle. Best of everything, comfort power and performance. The 12 SC will be very close in performance but not quite at the pinnacle like the XFR. The XJ is a different beast, bigger and from what I remember reading a lot harsher to drive for daily driving for some reason. All of that is anecdotal so take that for what you will.

Beautiful car and thank you! Wow, really? I thought the XJ - especially the XJL would have rode the best with the longer wheel base.
I have not driven the XFR or XFS yet but I am hoping for a nice smooth ride?
I love the interior of the XJL with the piping and trays in the rear etc but not many available in black here and if they are they don't have the BW sound system, etc.

I'll try to keep this brief, but you didn't specify if they are all the same price or are just what's in your area.
The XJ is big, so if you need back seat room it's better than the others, but it will be slower if it doesn't have the SC engine.
The XFR is great, but pre-facelift with 20K more miles...not sure I could justify it over the SC IF they are the same price and you like the color combo as much.
The SC is always a bargain and since it's the same as the XFR under the skin, especially in Portfolio trim, that's the way I'd lean. But you lose the distinctive look of the XFR in the process.
Not sure if that helps, but my take.

I usually buy my cars out of state and they are all a good distance away from me as local places don't really have much.
2011 XJ - $33k - 45k miles
2012 KFS - $37k - 26k miles
2010 XFR - $32k - 46k miles
I'm used to driving an S600 V12 Twin Turbo and it has all of the bells and whistles with plenty of room in the back although it's not used as it's just my wife and I. I want something that is still a nice smooth ride and if the SC/XFR still provides everything except the rear space I don't mind it.

Besides being larger, the XJ actually weighs the same as an XF given they both have the same engine, this is because the XJ has a mostly aluminum construction.
NA 5.0 XF = NA 5.0 XJ and Supercharged XF = Supercharger XJ in acceleration, but having driven both I would say the XF is more fun and XJ is more comfort oriented.
Given the choices above, I would pick between these two:
2012 XF Supercharged or the XFR that's for sale by WRXtranceformed.

For ride, the XFs are very sensitive to tire choice. I had Hankooks on my car when I bought it and it rode wonderfully. It just didn't do the performance thing as well. Now I have Bridgestone S-04's and it doesn't ride as well, but it handles soooo much better and has so much more traction. So keep that in mind when you are test driving.
Another thing that you might need to consider is whether the XF-S is Certified or not. If so, it's probably worth the extra money to have the protection. I don't think a standard XJ will work for you power wise if you've had an S600. Nice engine for sure and makes all the right noises, it just doesn't go like a 400+ hp vehicle with a giant torque curve does.
And if you get the SC tuned, it's as faster than a stock XFR.

Based on your comments, you should go with the 2012 SC with 26k miles. Newest, lowest miles, AND probably still under warranty. The 2012 models are covered for 4 years. However, the XJ is a bigger car and more luxurious. Maybe this is what you want? You have 5 years of warranty with the 2011 model, so its equal to the 2012 in that respect. Check the Carfax date when it was first sold. That is when the warranty starts.
Having owned both the XJ and the XF they are both GREAT vehicles. To me, the XF is sportier and the XJ is more luxurious. The XJ has a softer ride. Both are fast and fun to drive.

Thank you, My S600 was putting down 635hp/750tq but it was a big car but still very fast. Comfort and interior cabin noise being quiet is a main goal as my S600 had a lot of modifications done and was basically a race car. I know i'm not going to get lexus (boring) quiet but something that doesn't have squeaks and rattles over potholes, and is good for long drives as I drive a lot from MD to FL and all in between for road trips.
