I think the 2010 is out of the 4 Yr/50k factory warranty period, so you won't be able to get a Jaguar Certified warranty. But give a couple of dealers a call and have them run the VIN to see if they will offer the warranty.

As tempting as the XFR looks, especially with the Ivory interior, I would go with the 2012 Supercharged as you can get a certified Jaguar warranty from today's date to 6 Yrs/100K miles.

According to the dealer, they will do an additional 3yr/36k warranty for 4200.00 but I m trying to decide if it's worth it for a 2010 XFR which would bring the total to a little over 35k.

+1. Check your options with other dealers before making any decisions.

You can't go wrong with any of those examples really! Maybe the standard XJ has a softer ride but I swear I remember reading that it was a jerkier ride than the XF...maybe that was the XJ supercharged or the XJR I can't remember.

Regarding the warranty, I know you can get aftermarket options after you buy the car but I THINK unless you buy it from the dealer when you buy the car you can't get a factory Jag warranty after the fact (they might give you a 30 day window after purchase if you change your mind). Something to look into. If you go the dealer warranty route, just FYI that seems priced a little high. I negotiated the Jaguar VPP into my purchase for 6 years from date of delivery (not original purchase date, which is where the try to get you) or 100k miles for $2,150. Hopefully that helps!

Well, the XFR, at least this one specifically is out of the picture. I called my local LR/Jag dealer where I used to take my RR's to and he can sell me the jaguar warranty for 3200.00 for the XF SC or the XJL which covers the car up to 100,000 miles with no time frame such as 4 years, 5 years, it's as long as I own the car. That sounds great to me.

Wow - that's an amazing deal on the warranty
I paid that to extend mine for just 3 yrs...

I'd take the 2012 XF SC. Extend the warranty. If you don't need the extra legroom then the sportiness of the XFSC is a better option in my view. You won't regret the supercharged engine.

Invest in better wheels and a few mods to give it some distinction - not quite an XFR but a real steal!

Good luck - and hopefully welcome to the forum!

That XFR looks great, but a set of wheels and a black pack would really make the XF supercharged pop.... Agree that the XF supercharged is probably the best option.

Well, new news! I am looking to make a decision by tomorrow.

XFR:

The dealer has now come back with basically throwing in the full jaguar warranty for 3yr/36k miles which includes the wheel and tire protection.

That is good but still not 100% sold on 3yr/36k miles when if I buy a car still under factory warranty I can get 100k miles with no year limit for 3200.00....then again the XF has 46k miles currently, so it would cover me until December 2018 or 82k miles.

What do you all think?

If it's $31K and it includes the extra warranty, that's a great deal.

I'm so torn. I like the look of the facelifted 2012 SC but then I get the power of the XFR.

It sounds like you may be planning to drive the car quite a lot, road trips etc. so if it was me I would shoot for the warranty that gives me the longest mileage terms.

Another note: Jaguars aren't historically known for holding their value, although I have seen a lot of the XFRs (and even F-types) holding their value pretty well lately. If you plan to keep it forever and never sell or trade it, it's a moot point, but the highest / most exclusive trim levels of cars seem to do better on the resale market. You may want to look at the Supercharged trims and see what they have been doing value-wise, if that matters to you

Mainly during the months of April - November as a 3 season car but not during the winter months.

As far as resale value - that's why I never buy brand new cars. My S600 was 160k new and I got it for less than half of that. I usually buy cars that are 3-4 years old so if I ever do sell it, it won't be a super huge hit in value.

Thanks for your input!

NUMBER 1, jags do not hold their value at all...i would do the 2012 XF s/c its worth more book wise due to its age. the power it has right now is really close to the XFR but for a few bucks you can get that and more power,,, same motor set up so no issues with it being able to handle the power... black pack it and that is a very nice ride... if it was me...

Well everyone, I went a completely different direction and just bought a 2011 XJL with 35k miles. I'm flying out in the morning to go pick it up!

Thanks for all of your help and even though I didn't get the XF at least I stayed with a jag!

the XF Supercharged looks exactly like mine, save for interior top part (mine is grey). My $0.02: they all are absolutely terrific, but with the XJL you will miss the power and the XFR, while it does look distinctive is pre-face lift design, which (in my humble opinion) looks a bit dated now.
So...go with the XF Supercharged?
P.S. Whichever one you get - TUNE IT!

Is it just me or do these type of threads never result in the outcome recommended by any of the forum members?

I have this happen in my personal life and it drives me crazy. Someone says "I'm thinking about buying vehicle X. What do you know about it? I ask them a variety of questions of how they will use it and why they liked vehicle X.

Invariably, we determine what they suggested isn't really the best thing for them either in the long or short term. So I get a list together of other choices more appropriate to their intended uses and educate them why they should seriously look at those other choices instead of vehicle X.

After hours of discussions and research on prices, etc. over a week or so, they come out of the blue and say the purchased vehicle X.

Which makes me wonder why they asked? Or why I still entertain the questions
