There's a thread on sunshades which turns into a window tint thread. Jaguar USA lists a windshield sunshade. Someone suggested it is probably made for them by covertech or some such company.

Brake dust problem has no good solution. Wheel wax is supposed to help when clean up time comes around but waxing wheels is a pita anyway.

Some

I tried some Klasse acrylic glazing sealant on one wheel last week. I will wash tomorrow to see if removal of brake dust is any easier than on the other three wheels. If you use search for "sunshade" I am sure you will find the thread. It was very recent.

Nonetheless, it's useful to 1) use descriptive language when titling your threads and 2) use the search feature to read previous intelligence on a given topic before posting.

Both of these measures are helpful to others.

No it wasn't you. It was the person where you see a whole bunch of text deleted.

Well, I did the experiment and the brake seemed to wash off just as easily on the other front wheel as the wheel with the Klasse. I will likely still treat the other three just for protection of the finish. I also dropped using the Dawn as it is unecessary if you use a wheel brush. I figure the grease cutting of the Dawn might be breaking down oil and greases that may be needed. A milder car wash specific liquid soap like Meguirs or Griots works just as well if you don't let them go to long.

I use a spray type wash off wheel cleaner, there are several brands. Make sure you get one suitable for painted alloys. It's just a detergent mix but seems more effective than ordinary detergent alone.

Default Love the 11' XF SC

Love everything about the car, but the only thing I would change is going to ceramic brake pads. LOL never satisfied I always have the car spotless and after I take it out for a short ride the wheels look dull and dusty.

I had the same wheel dust problem on my 04' XJ VDP. I did a complete brake job changing to Ceramic Brake Pads an now there is little visible brake dust until the whole car needs washing. I haven't looked for reasonably priced ceramic pads, so wheel cleaner is the only short term solution.

I've used EagleOne Keep Clean Wheel Protector and it does work - keeps wheels clean longer and most of the brake dust that does accumulate easily hoses off - lasts about 3 weeks. Only pain is you need to start with a clean dry wheel. Similar product from Turtle Wax is available I'll give that one a try to see if it works better soon.

I replaced my brake pads with Porterfield pads and they are awesome! Brake dust is reduced by around 90%. Well worth the investment.

Ceramic pads will have less dust because they're harder, however, the fact that they're harder also means that they will eat through your rotors really fast!!

So, you have a choice. Frequently have to clean brake dust, or frequently have to buy new rotors.

BTW, Porterfield are carbon/kevlar, not ceramic. I've had them for over 28k miles on my wife's Mercedes with no issues, and around 5k on my XF with no issues.

Don't anyone laugh too much, this is my standing policy.

I'm absolutely fanatical about looking well ahead in traffic and letting off the gas early so that any braking is kept to an absolute minimum. This saves fuel and brakes and offers the added advantage of pissing off all of the SUV drivers who tailgate me and are accustomed to stomping on one pedal or the other the entire time they're behind the wheel. One day one will run me over, oh well.

Where did you get the Poterfield pads from. Did you install or did dealer.
Thanks
