2011 XF SC 5.0 Valley coolant leak
I have a 2011 XF SC. my low coolant message came on about 2 minutes from home the other day. got home and had coolant leaking from back side of the motor. Couldn't see any thing from the top so I jacked up the passenger side of the car, slid under and saw that coolant was leaking down the driver side of the motor. Lowered passenger side and jacked up driver side and slid under, now coolant was leaking down passenger side of motor. Did some looking and read posts about coolant in the valley.
Evidently several possible problems, right?
Im pretty mechanical, How hard a job is it to dig down to see what is wrong?
What should I be looking at price wise if I take it to a mechanic?
There are probably other threads with similar issues so If you know of one, please point me in the right direction.

Hi Mike,
There are a couple of possible causes. Starting at the front of the engine is a "Y" pipe that mates to the coolant manifold that runs along the front of the engine. On the earlier models, these manifolds/pipes are made in two parts, seam welded together. The newer versions are a one piece design. Since the coolant tends to run backwards, that's the first place I'd look. If you peer down the gap between of the front of the supercharger and the block you should be able to see a leak if one is in this area. The other possible causes are the rear heater manifold which connects either side of the block (or maybe heads - can't remember) or a rubber pipe that runs from this manifold up to the throttle body. Unfortunately, getting to all these parts requires pulling the supercharger although that's not that bad a job. The worst part is getting access to the back of the supercharger to disconnect the various pipes and connectors. I've got a couple of posts covering this on the XF forum that might help but PM me if you need more information.
