2012 XF Headlights - Low beam question
Updated from a 2009 to 2012. Notice the headlights now point where you turn- pretty cool. Beams don't seem to shine too far ahead though, like 15ft then fall off sharpely. Edge isn't a nice gradient, kind of rigid and angular. 2009's seem to illuminate much more and had a smooth edge where the light fades. 2012 high beams shine nice and far and aren't rigid. Not a huge deal, but kind of annoying. Anyone else notice this, or maybe something's wrong with my low beams. Got the car a few weeks ago. Thanks.

It sounds to me like you have gone from halogen headlights to HID/Bi-xenon.
A common issue with the HIDs is they are often adjusted, even from the the factory, pointing way too low. In an overdone effort to prevent blinding other drivers by being pointed too high.
Easy enough to rectify, there are manual adjusters built into the headlight assemblies, look down the back of the lights for the white plastic adjusters with a "hex" hole in the centre. The outermost ones adjust the low beam / dipped beam (the HIDs), the innermost adjust the high beam / main beam. Use a long shank 6mm allen key to turn them, going from memory clockwise to raise the lights up. If you don't have a long shank 6mm allen key then a medium sized flat blade screwdriver will usually do the trick.

Low beam quite dangerous
Haven't really touched the car since bought new in 2014. The low beam has caused me several near misses in rain and unlit bends. This fix should do the trick.
On another thought, am I to assume that raising the low beam will also raise the highs? The reason I ask is that when the highs are too high they become totally useless. Suggestions...

On the 'classic' (2008 - 2011) the low and high beams are separate globes, although the HID versions use both globes for high beam. The outer globe is the low beam, the inner is the high beam. When using high beam the low beam HID globe becomes a supplementary high beam (that's why it is called bi-xenon).
On the 'facelift' (2012 - 2015) there is only one globe which does both high and low beams, the other 'light' is just a ring of LEDs for the turn indicator.
On a 'facelift' model, if your low beam is pointing way too low then odds are your high beam is as well, and lifting it up a bit shouldn't cause the high beam to become too high.
The info I posted above about separate adjusters for low and high beams applies to the 'classic' model, and I presume the 'facelift' model has very similar adjusters, but maybe only one set instead of two.
