2012 XF Portfolio Arriving in My Driveway Soon!

I've been researching the XF for over a year and waiting for the 2012 model. Really like the new "XJish" front-end and the harddrive-base "Infotainment" system. Today I test drove the car and spent time negotiating my deal. I was originally going to go with an Ebony/Charcoal base XF that would be at the dealer in late Oct. I was not thrilled with having to take the car with the cold weather package and Lyra rims which totaled $1100 in options I did not want. I really wanted a Portfolio with London Tan interior. I think this is an awesome interior with the Midnight Black exterior. As an added bonus the car will be at the dealer this week. So after careful consideration, I passed on the base and got the Portfolio with the added goodies and upgraded interior with London Tan. The XF also will come equipped with the Cold Weather Package and Burl Walnut Veneer. Still could have left those options but I would have had to order it and take arrival in 3 months. I was amazed to see that so few 2012's are in North America as well as the pipline of cars that are arriving. Thought Black or Midnight Black would be very common but seeing the dealers systems today showing very few was eye opening. I really did not want to wait 3 months to order a car.
Can't wait for my 2012 to arrive this week. For those likely to ask I got a terrific deal at my dealership - $500 over invoice. The dealer was professional and very fair. I don't think they've had a great month so it seems they were very interested in meeting my price demands. Never thought they's go so low and am obviously thrilled. A very low stress car buying experience. Only disappointment was their low offer on my Audi trade which I chose not to accept.
When it arrives, I'll try to post some pics.

Bruce:
My deal on the 2012 XF Portfolio worked out to be a total of $3870 below MSRP. As most car buyers do these days, I was not concerned with MSRP and negotiated from the Invoice Price and offer a fair margin above Invoice. Honestly though never though I could get them <1% over invoice. I understand that the dealer holdback in the US is $1060 on the XF so they have built in profit margin of about 2% right off the bat. Don't quote me on that figure as that is simply what my research on the internet showed. Good luck with your purchase.

Well.... My 2012 XF Portfolio arrived yesterday and after prep I picked it up this afternoon. What a beauty. Midnight Black is gorgeous and the London Tan is a showstopper. The Finance Manager could not get over how much the car looked like an XJ with the color combo. It is a real head turner. Took a bunch of pictures as I figure it will never be cleaner. I am not sure I have enought posts to get the pictures up but will give it a shot.
Anyone buy the Multi-Shield Protection Package? It was a $1095 offer for 5 year coverage of tire and rim replacement, windshield repair, dent and door ding repair, emergency roadside assistance (even though you get that thru Jaguar) and key replacement. The one that appealed to me the most is the tire and rim replacement given how rims get bent in Chicago and 19" rims and tires are costly. Turns out to be about $14/month over the 5 year stretch. I am not a big dealer option guy but this seems like decent insurance to me. If anyone has an opinion, I'd love to hear it.

Congrats and beautiful vehicle! You've made an excellent choice on exterior/interior color. The rims really compliment!

After a loooong wait, I am finally going to get the 2012 XF SC. I was debating over the 2011 vs the 2012 but i decided on the 2012. It is Black with the london tan interior. Very excited about the impending arrival (this week hopefully). I am curious about the after market dealer package (regarding dents, rims and tires). Is it worth it?

Hope you enjoy the 2012. Mine is the same exterior/interior color combination and it is a real head-turner. People are amazed with the rich look of the London Tan which I understand was previously unavailable on the XF (Spice was fairly close but darker). I have 500 miles and love getting in it to drive even if it is around the block. As for the package, I don't normally go for dealer options but this one seemed to make sense as I was most concerned about bending a rim in Chicago. I went with the Multi-Shield Protection Package which was a $1095 for 5 year coverage of tire and rim replacement, windshield repair, dent and door ding repair, emergency roadside assistance, and key replacement. Turns out to be about $18/month over the 5 year stretch so it's peace of mind more than anything.
Good luck and let us know when you pick up your new XF.

I did buy a rim protection/door ding protection package for 5 years. I talked them down to $400 for the package. I don't know if it's the same package you are talking about. I do have free roadside assistance (I used it already) but I thought that came with all of the cars. A week after I bought the car I had a flat in the rear due to an accident that spread debrie all over the road. It turns out those rear pirelli tires on the Supercharged version aren't cheap. It was about $500 all paid by the dealer for the one tire. I am very happy I bought the plan. ![Smile](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Beautiful car I love the 2012 front end and the interior looks very good. I have the spice interior which is more of a orange/red and I love it.

Slightly disappointed in the dealership since they promised me the my new 2012 XF SC would be in on Friday. I felt like a little kid the day before Christmas only to be disappointed. In theory, the car is supposed to be in today. I'll keep my fingers crossed and keep everyone in the loop. Thanks for in the insight on the protection packages. BTW, don't Jaguars already have a "standard" protection/maintenance package 4 yrs/50,000miles? I'm going to look into purchasing the dealer offered exterior protection package.
