my 2014 XF Began making the same noise as yours with only 67 k miles on it noticed it does have metal shavibgs in thd oil & at first thought timing chain but after seeing the metal shavibgs in oil been told was a bad rod and or lifter it’s aggravating as much as Jaguars cost that the manufacturer doesnt stand behind their work or product with after searching its a regular problem and occurrence in these motors and the land rovers with same engine my car was a reg drive and never driven hard and yet still failed without warning i loved my Jag but the costly expense to repair the engine you may as well just put it toward a newer model and NOT another Jag because the manufacturer fails to stand behind their product!!! As many failures on this type motor they should have had a recall on them and Jag/Ford engine co should be held responsible to pay for the problematic design build failure these are known for gd luck
Sometimes things break in ten year old cars, it sucks but it happens.
