Found a lot in the loose cabling and deteriorated foam that can cause rattles behind the door card that stops when the window is down a bit but nothing on this issue that I experience: When the drivers door window is down a bit and I close the door there is a rattle as if the window is loose inside the door. When window is up there's no rattle when I close the door. Did anyone experience this. After extensive research I have read somewhere about a anti rattle strip at the top of the outside skin of the door ... Could this be the problem on the XF as well. Hope it is not an expensive fix?

Anybody experienced window rattle with the window down a bit and on closing the door ? Can I be the only one experiencing this - or is it normal? I just got the car 3 days ago and this is the only fault I could find. It happens when I drop the window a little to be able to close the door easier without slamming to hard. Now I rather open the passanger window to allow for easier closing ... Do not want to break something? Will appreciate any assistance on how to fix this rattle.

 

Best bet will be to remove the door cover and try and investigate what actually makes the noise and then try to fix it.
There are a few things that could rattle around... you would not know for sure until you actually look at it.

 

Thank you mrNewt. I will surely remove the door card and investigate - planning on doing it this coming weekend ... just thought that someone that experienced the same rattle would chime in to help me narrow it down. Just afraid it's something that need replacing instead of fixing.
