Default 2014 XF Front Brake help

Just finished changing out brakes on my 2014 XF 3.0 AWD. 19" wheels. Found some great resources here, cleaned out the hub, put anti-seize on, etc.

what I couldn't find was regarding the metal shim/clips on the caliper for the outer front pads, where they sit. Neither one would fit, it was too tight for the pad's end hooks fit on until I pulled the metal clip seats. Then it was a nice fit.

I have the right pads, are these metal "shims" or slides important? They were definitely an OEM part of the calipers, but again, just thin metal seats for the pad to sit on.

If they are the ones I'm thinking of, not having them could cause some rattling as the pad bounces around that tiny bit on the caliper, had that issue on my old Lincoln LS that drove me crazy for a few weeks until i finally got a fitting shim.

Are you sure your new pads didn't come with them? I've seen where they are riveted on the new pad.
