2016 Navigation update
Good afternoon!
I am the proud owner of a 2012 XF Portfolio. I was browsing on the Jaguar website, and came across some info concerning an update to the navigation system.
After clicking on some sites, I came across this:
JAGUAR/DENSO/IAM
JAGUAR GEN 2.1 2016 HDD NA - USB STICK AND ACTIVATION CODE
Part number T1000-23687
Apparently, the nav updates are annual, update via a USB stick, and cost $199 (plus tax and shipping). My question is: has anyone purchased this, could they load it themselves, and if so, was it worth the cost? I looked online (Google), and have read many different things, but nothing too recent. I have no issues with the cost, but I do not want to purchase this if it is not worth the money. I could put the money spent on this on other upgrades for the car. If it is worth the money, I will go ahead and purchase.
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance!

Not to mention there are numerous apps that are a bazillion times better than what we have on our cars and depending on your phone the screen size is just as big or bigger with far superior quality.

Yes those two things are never an issue for me thankfully. More than enough data and I have a fast charger in each vehicle which is a must have these days. I just wish our nav was as easy to use as googles and with as many features. One day I'm sure! I hear there are already plans for that to become available and I suspect it will become mainstream in time.

I also have a 2012 XF. I'm less concerned with the maps and more frustrated that there has never been an update to the user functionality of the screens.
My 2007 Honda Accord screens are easier to use and has a more intuitive navigation system. There are so many bugs and glitches and so many things that could be done with one click but take multiple clicks. Also, so much wasted real estate.
I think the team who programmed these screens had never driven a car before!!
