3.0 timing chain tensioner

3.0 timing chain tensioner
Do the 2013 3.0 SC engines have the same factory faults with the tensioners ? These engines are brutal im on my second one already. Jaguar is hiding in the sand over this issue ... my dealer will not address the concerns however independent dealers are flooded with this extremely expensive factory flaw on the 5.0 pre 2016...Both on Jag and LR ...please advise if 3.0 has the same issue. Thanks

Yes, the AJ126 supercharged 3.0 V6 has the exact same tensioner/timing chain problems as the earlier AJ133 supercharged 5.0 V8, just not as bad or frequently and not until much higher mileage.
That is because the AJ126 was built from the get go with the improved timing chains (8.0 mm wide vs 6.3 mm), the improved/hardened tensioner impact points on the chain guides, improved tensioners and improved guides. These improvements have helped a fair bit but it's still not bullet proof.
It seems very few so far have had the problem surface but now that some are getting up over 100,000 miles we might start to read/hear about it more often.
One thing you can do to reduce the potential for the problem to arise is to change the engine oil twice as often as scheduled, ie every 6 months or 8,000 miles whichever comes first.
I'm only on 30,000 miles and I reckon I will be be shuffling off this mortal coil before I get anywhere near 100,000 miles!

Hi all - revisiting this thread, and if anymore of the 3.0 V6 S/C engines have experienced rattling and/or need to have tensioners and guides updated? With time and mileage increasing, I'm anxious to understand if this has subsided.
I really want a X351 XJ with this engine, and am hopeful that this issue is less of a concern now.

however i change my oil every 6-8k km
also have larger lower pulley and tuned to 460HP. I agree that its the 6-8k oil changes that help immensely. I use Royal Purple… have for years. Only thing ive done are brakes, crossed drilled rotors and a water pump… but thats inexpensive (water pump was) and very easy to do yourself
Note: All performance cars go through timing chain and or belt issues in high mileage cars.
direct injection cars need very clean oil… im convinced Jag / LR is way off on oil change duration recommendation….m2c
