Default Adding OEM subwoofer

Hi all I have a 2012 xf and I have base audio - 3 speakers in each of front doors and two in each of back doors powered my amp in boot . I have a sub plug in my boot and Id like to add OEM subwoofer. I don't want to upgrade to meridian as its too much hassle. Is it just plug and play with software change or do I need new amp. Below I am pasting picture of my amp and sub plug

Sub plug

hi,

you will need the subwoofer that plugs into the plug you pictured ,

but

you will also need a new amp , as your existing amp cant handle the sub channel, or the front door mid mounted speakers ( these are currently spliced to the door tweeters)

the next level non meridian system allows a sub and two separate channels for the door mid range speakers to be operated with a CCF flash of your software

its not as dramatic as it sounds, but you do need the hardware and the software flash

btw, to enable the mid range separate channels, there is a large green plug close to the amp , it has a cross connection short loop plugged into it, you swap the terminals ( on the loop ) and this gives the full channel selection fo the mids in the doors

you do not need to remove the door cards for any of this work

it WILL sound much better wit the sub and the mid range enabled,

BB

ps, i do have the amps and the subs, and the better quality door speakers for sale if your interested

oh

and you need the ' high 12 ' amp ( blue sticker )

you currently have the ' base 8 ' ( white sticker )

and there is a 'Prem 16 ' for the full surround sound meridian system ( yellow or red sticker depending on range rover or jaguar spec )

I am ok with changing / swapping parts but flashing software might be problematic lol. My mate has sdd will that do it? And if yes what's the procedure?
THANKS AGAIN

i actually have a full meridian surround sound system for sale,

the difference is its an 825w system with 18 speakers ,

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303589991549

i do have other ' spares ' that i will sell individually ,

but i do advise you upgrade your basic ' paper cone ' door woofers and mids for the higher ' kevlar and composite material cone ' versions to handle the extra power of the new amp , this does mean removing door cards, job would take 15 mins per door to do ,

message me if interested

cheers

BB

ps, SDD will give you access to the car, you can do ' basic ' CCF editing in SDD , usually customer option stuff , however , you will need engineering access level SDD CCF to add the sub and new amps etc ,

Thanks for the offer, but I don't want to go all the way to meridian system , I think best for me would be high 12 amp plus sub and maybe just maybe I might change woofers to b&w. Only issue is I would have to find somebody capable of flashing my software near me.

ill do you a deal

buy the sub box, high 12 amp and the woofers from me ( might as well add the mid range better speakers while the door cards are off as well)

and i can flash the CCF for you for a nominal cost

BB
ps, this is what you currently have installed, paper cones and low power

Oh OK I thought you only have meridian set? So you also have high 12 system and sub?. Pm me good price and let's do it please .
I would love to go all the way to meridian but that's £600 for your set up then additional £80 for parcel shelf and £££ for centre speaker grill, then i would probably need some extra wiring for centre and parcel shelf speakers etc.

i dont think you are understanding the ' levels ' of speakers and amps

there is the base system, low power amp and paper cone speakers ( you have this )

Meridian provide the speakers for all the other versions, but the mid12 uses a lower power amp than the high16 and no surround sound, and no Meridian software to enhance the sound ,

so when you say Meridian, there are two levels, an added sub woofer in the boot , separated door mid range and tweeters and a better amp with all round better speakers , this is what you are talking about

if you install any better amp you will blow your paper speakers , so you need the Meridian speakers either way

Correct me if I am wrong-- in facelifted model you have 3 audio levels :
- basic - pathetic speakers with amp in the back
- medium high 12 ( meridian speakers without meridian tuning) system with better speakers, amp and sub in the back.
- premium, premium 16 amp as above better speakers and sub and additional parcel shelf speakers and centre speaker.

And I want that middle one..

be carefull with your wishes. ading sub without enabling dedicated midrange ,rear surround and especialy center channel does not improove sound at any significant quality level. sound is still muddy , disctracted and out of phase. you will just get some dumb discorted midbass 40hz blurp. I would choose full multichanel meridan surround system WIHTOUT sub any day comaprig to medum system with sub. if you doing upgrade its worth only do premium- you will get midrange texture and soundstage in fornt of you- similar t home stereo ssystems. i have done such upgrades this is practical advice.
