Default advice on negotiating

I am also looking at a 2011 XF premium and trying to figure out what is a good price to pay. If you look at truecar.com, it lists a good price for the 2011 XF premium being less than $52,648. This seems unbelievable since it is less than invoice. Edmunds.com does not have anything other than MSRP listed for their TMV price. So I have no idea what type of price to negotiate. Can anyone suggest a good starting point or give me any tips. I have never bought a jaguar before and want to make this as painless as possible. Thank you for your help.

I went looking for a deal on a 2010 as they would be more willing to come down on price. The first car I was bargaining for was a standard 4.2 (not the premium) with a few options with a sticker of $54,200. They came down to invoice, around $50k, but wanted $4k down and $750 month on a 10k mile 36month lease. I offered them $650mo/$2k down, and they would not take it, so I walked away.

Two days later they called be back, but now I wanted a premium, but to cut a long story short, I got a 2010 premium with some options that had a sticker of $58,950 for $50k (cap cost for lease). They had to call their factory rep to get the factory to “help out” with some factory to dealer cash.

I got a much better car by walking away the first time.

I don’t know that you will be able to get such a deal on a 2011, not for a while anyway.

Thank you Gaz for the info. I figure it may be harder to get deal on a 2011 but I will look at more than one dealer if the first one does not give me a good deal. Was it simply the engine as to why you changed to the premium or something else?

It was for more than just the 5.0 engine (which for 2011 is the only engine available), it was also for the keyless locking, leather dash and door tops, and heated and cooled seats, and darker Burl wood trim over the lighter wood, I was not too fond of the lighter wood in the standard car. You get a fair bit more car in the premium.

I'd say even go for the premium portfolio then you get the suede headliner and a couple other goodies as well.
Walk in and tell them that youll give them 55k (or 52k for the premium) for it and give them a business card, have your financial info at hand and be able to tell them (if you are going for credit) what your score is, it's easy and worth it to get this at one of the credit bureaus and they all have the ability to do a 3 bureau report which is what you need, if you're under 760 or don't have the income to give you a great ratio (they use Chase) make sure you have a pocketful of cash, at least 15k. If you don't have your finances ready to go it's very difficult to work this scenario. if they say no walk out nicely but leave your number. Theyll call back.

You can go for lower but be prepared to work really hard for it.

BTW this should have at least the BW sound as an option
