Hello all,
I am contemplating purchasing a CPO 2012 xfr and would appreciate your objective opinion of the idea. A bit about the situation...
This would be my DD, and I really enjoy driving, and imagine it will be in the range of 20km per year if I stay consistent with my current mileage.
Need this to be reliable, spend a lot of time on the highway.
Live in Canada, so will see snow. Are snow rims readily available without breaking the bank? Tires I am well versed in.
In my thirties. Love the look, the power, and the fact that many would never consider this car as an alternative to, in my opinion, the over valued German rivals.
Lastly, I am currently driving a cts v and love it, best part of my day, but it's getting up there in km so it's time for something newer.
Thanks in advance.

I've haven't been able to find Snow Wheels, or Steel Wheels it that is what you mean, that fit the XF SC or XFR. The problem is getting wheels to clear the brake pads on the Force Induction Jaguars.
The 2012 Jaguars should still come with a year or two of the Platinum Warranty that covers all the scheduled maintenance and some wear and tear items like brakes and wipers. I'm not sure if this was US exclusively only or if Canada was included.
I DD my Jaguar all through the winter in MN and it's just fine as long as your not going through 8+ inch snow falls you should be fine with winter tires. On summer tires and all-seasons the car will barely move, if at all. I wash and wipe the car very week to keep the snow and salt off as much as possible.

Agreed with the comments above. The XF Supercharged and the XFR are terrific cars - but the front wheels have much larger brake calipers than other models. These make it difficult to 'downsize' from 20inch wheels and low profile tires - which is ideally what you'd want to do for snow season. A few people on the forum managed to get 19inch wheels to fit (just) but you need a lot of effort to find something that works. Several of us (myself included) gave up trying and stuck with 20inch with winter tyres. If you do that, would recommend a dedicated set of (cheaper) wheels that are tough as the OEM ones bend easily with winter potholes.
I'm in NE usa, use mine as a DD and it's fine in winter with winter tyres. However if you're doing 2000km a month and live in a heavy snow part of Canada, I'd suggest getting one of the AWD models from 2013 onwards - you get four-wheel drive for traction and they have the standard brakes so you can use 19inch wheels and bigger tyres.
Tough trade-off though - the V8 SC is a terrific engine.
My other car is an LR4 - still the V8 engine - but much better in the snow!

hello everyone. so i ended up buying a 2012 XFR and it is amazing. No regrets.
need to sort out winter wheels and tires, can anyone confirm that the 20 x8.5 wheels on the front can be used on the rear as well, so that all 4 winter wheels and tires are the same size? Any issues with this approach?

Congrats on the new car - I'm sure you'll love it. I considered doing 8.5 all round instead of staggered. Several people on here have done it and said it works fine. But there are a decent number of staggered wheel sets available for the Jag, so in the end I put the winters on my OEM wheels and got a new staggered set for the summers.
Just be warned that the XFR has large front brake calipers so it's very hard to find any wheels below 20 inch that will fit, and a decent number of 20inch will fowl the calipers. Make absolutely sure the ones you choose will fit - search around on the forum here - lots of people have worked through this and some great choices in aftermarket wheels. I went with the Rohana RF2 and love the look.
